Without books the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are the engines of change, windows on the world, ''Lighthouses'' as the poet said ''erected in the sea of time.'' They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind. Books are humanity in print.
Arthur Schopenhauer

With Malice and Forethought: A Novel Based on Real Events, by Dave Meckanic

This amazing book also covers the mysteries surrounding the SA Helderberg disaster, the South African Airways Flight 295 that crashed into the Indian Ocean east of Mauritius on 28 November 1987, killing everyone on board.

If you read this book attentively, with the knowledge that it is the devil himself who is behind all this chaos on Planet Earth, then you should have no problem identifying who the real villains were behind the Helderberg disaster. It is shocking to think that these villains are still manipulating world affairs!

The book is separated into two parts. Part 1 titled, “South Africa, The Killing Fields”, deals mainly with corruption and military dealings in South Africa. Part 2 titled, “Canada, The Good?”, continues the saga of corruption, but it’s a corruption of a different kind - on a level that seems “to good to be true”.

From the back cover of the book:

You never know just how weird your life is going to get…. until it does.

Dave, who is just a guy with a family, ends up leaving Canada after a business deal goes very wrong.  He decides that a change is as good as a rest and opts for South Africa, where he knows his engineering skills will be appreciated. What he doesn’t know, is that dossiers and reports are being compiled on his past by Armscor…. before he even lands. Seventeen days after arriving in Johannesburg, he started his new job, which happened to be with the ‘military’ and he didn’t even know it, but he found out quickly when he visited his first ammunition depot.

After a couple of months, Dave starts to discover what Hell is really all about. He witnesses the ‘necklacings’ in Soweto, the deaths on the ‘fence’ and the inhumane and monstrous acts performed by the ANC terrorists. He didn’t buy into this kind of position, but he cant escape it now and Armscor was making more demands every week. Then the truly horrible events started to occur, like the downing of the Helderberg in the Indian Ocean near Mauritius in November of 1987 which killed 156 innocent people, plus three others.

After an arms deal, that places millions of dollars in weapons into the hands of Saddam, Dave decides he can no longer turn a ‘blind eye’ to the corruption and decides to break away from the military. Of course that doesn’t work out well. ‘they’ watch him and disrupt his plans. Eventually, he gives up and decides to leave South Africa. He tries to make his way back to Canada, but the Canadian Ambassador, through inaction, almost gets Dave and his entire family killed. Dave however, manages to use a covert method to leave and even then, is almost killed in Europe on a commercial flight. Armscor, or someone, did not want to give up easily.

Once back in Canada, Dave becomes involved with Universities and the stock market, he’s worth thirty million by age forty-one.  Everything seemed ‘to good to be true’, he should have known something was seriously wrong, especially when romantic entanglements and business manipulations began to adversely affect his life, wife and family. In this new situation, he was dealing with a different kind of corruption, of the 100 hundred million dollar tax and stock market fraud ‘flavour’, which involved private business, universities, government ministers and bureaucrats.

This is one man's journey through the swamp of deceit and obscenity that are, OUR governments and their ‘puppet masters’. You’d be surprised how many innocent people in this world are considered nothing more than ‘expendable’ or simply ‘acceptable’ collateral damage.

Product Description from Amazon.com

How do you define experiences that are patently obscene, in a world where life is valued at the cost of a bullet or a used tire full of gasoline?

Let me tell you it's not an easy task. Dave has been through the proverbial 'mill' and he's found that it really doesn't matter which country you are in, either, they're all the same. Presidents and prime ministers all have agenda's and most seem willing to do just about anything to keep their dirty little secrets contained. Their 'actions' range from simple 'surgical' killings to blowing up plane loads of innocent people and they always cover their tracks, as in the case of the Helderberg, in November of 1987. Of course some countries are a little more covert and devious, they keep better spin doctors on hand to divert and wipe away the facts. They just delay the inevitable and the truth takes a little longer to come out, but eventually it does.

Dave was swept up into a situation in South Africa that he could have never predicted. The weapons, the killings, the mass murder, they were all too much for him to take, so after a number of years in the 'killing fields' he gave up. He couldn't take closing his eyes anymore, his conscience always posted a new pair of dead ones on the screens of his eyelids. Being an engineer in charge of the security of military bases and borders, he was an asset the government didn't want to lose. When he decided to finally leave Armscor and then South Africa, he turned however, from asset to liability in a heartbeat and was almost killed alongside 258 passengers on a commercial airliner in Europe while on his way back to Canada.

Once back, Dave ran his own little R&D business and his life began to normalize. Then he had the misfortune of becoming involved with a large company that had their own agenda... whose owners were adept at manipulation and extortion. They walked a 'new' woman into his life to distract Dave from his partner's slowly unfolding plans. When he finally focused on their scheme to defraud the government and stock market, he refused. So, his partner's and the lawyer for the company, oppressed him as a shareholder. Eventually, an illegitimate agreement was drawn together and they settled out of court, but his partner's breached eight months later. After the breach of the settlement agreement, his partner's tried to obtain government grants through universities using Dave's technology and intellectual property. He found out quickly just how corrupt our government and educational institutions could be, and how the only difference between South Africa and Canada was physical location and size. What follows are the battles to regain what was once his, including his sanity.
