Zebra Press to Publish Definitive Account of the Oscar Pistorius Murder Case

Olympic double-amputee athlete and murder accused Oscar Pistorius, who has just won an application for his bail restrictions to be relaxed, will be the subject of a book by journalists Jacques Steenkamp and Gaven Prins, to be published by Zebra Press later this year.

No More Heroes: Oscar Pistorius’s Fall from Grace
Zebra Press, an imprint of Random House Struik, will publish the definitive account of the murder case that has made headlines all over the world. Now, for the first time, the true story behind the headlines can be revealed. With first-hand information and on-the-scene reportage, No More Heroes, written by Jacques Steenkamp and Gavin Prins, will cover the events leading up to the killing of model Reeva Steenkamp, the trial and its outcome.

Based on in-depth interviews with eyewitnesses, police officers, blood-spatter analysts and forensic experts who were involved at the scene of the crime, as well as family and friends of Reeva Steenkamp and Oscar Pistorius, this book will uncover the actual events that led to Reeva’s death.

It will expose the startling allegations of bribery and corruption that permeated the case just hours after the shooting, as well as Oscar’s alleged drug use.

The book will also investigate broader social concerns: the high level of violent crime in South Africa, particularly against women and children; the controversial matter of gun control; and the fallen-hero syndrome.

Written by two of South Africa’s foremost crime and celebrity reporters with a wealth of inside knowledge, this is the definitive account of the murder case that will define this decade and, perhaps, the society we live in.

No More Heroes will be released on conclusion of the trial.

Transworld Publishers, a Random House Group company, has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights.

About the authors
Jacques Steenkamp is one of the best hard-news journalists in South Africa and has reported on nearly a hundred murders. His contacts and sources uniquely qualify him to investigate and expose the truth behind Reeva Steenkamp’s death. He was one of the first people on the scene when Oscar Pistorius crashed his speedboat on the Vaal River in 2008 after allegedly steering it while drunk. Steenkamp is the recipient of several journalism and photography awards over the years, including the 2010 Scoop of the Year Award from the national Media24 Legends Awards.

As the entertainment reporter for Rapport newspaper, Gavin Prins broke the stories about two sex scandals that occurred at American TV mogul Oprah Winfrey’s exclusive girls’ school in South Africa. Prins also presented two entertainment shows, Glitterati and Tonge los, on the Afrikaans kykNET channel. He was the iKusasa Journalist of the Year for 2012. Prins recently resigned from Rapport after working for the paper for 14 years, and is now a freelance entertainment reporter.

Surely if you shoot bullets through a closed (locked) door, at someone on the other side who represents no immediate threat to you, and who's identity is unknown, you commit murder?
If he was threatened why did he not fetch Reeva and scarpa? Did he even look for Reeva? I think the basic evidence will be hard to get over.
